this piece consists of wood and copper glued together into a surface; layers include chine-collé, printmaking (etched copper plates and acid), and oil paint. it draws from the shahnameh, ferdowsi's iranian epic written to preserve persian history and language after the arab conquest of iran. incorporating a modern instinct, i pair vibrant colors and abstraction, embodying the idea of history as distortion.
